That is why the area of H.E.A.R.T. that I am most looking forward to would have to be health and happiness! To me, happiness is the most important thing there is in life, and if you can build a foundation on being happy, then you can manage anything. Mental health goes hand in hand with this, and has come to be an incredibly important issue to me recently. I have a few close friends who struggle with depression, and am always looking for new ways that I can be of help to them.

I am also consistently struggling with attention, as are many people (Hello, phones!). I am excited to learn new techniques, but one of my own is classical music. It does wonders for paying attention while studying! I usually hate sound when I am trying to focus, but classical music is one of those things that you can tune out so easily, yet it somehow focuses you on your task. Luckily, in high school we were taught to manage our time very well, so I don’t struggle with that too much anymore. I am very diligent to make schedules on when I need to be doing work, and when I can take breaks. I have actually used the tomato-timer before, and it worked pretty well! Although, sometimes if I am in a really good groove I will continue working, then reward myself with a larger break when I finish. I do struggle time to time to get motivated to start my work, so I am interested to see what I can learn about getting that first wave of momentum going.
The first thing I noticed was your awesome image! I love it! I am obsessed with books so this was perfect for me. I agree with you about H - Happiness! if you are happy and enjoying life, everything else will fall into place. I also struggle with attention! You are definitely not alone there!! I'm embarrassed to even tell you how often I am distracted by my phone! Hopefully, we can both improve on this this semester.
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome Image! I really like it. And As a reader who only like to read what is interesting, I totally agree with your image about happiness is books. Great books makes you happy and I totally agree with your thinking about happiness is most important thing in your life. I also have few friends who went through depression so I agree happiness is really important.
ReplyDeleteHaha good point about the phones! Talk about taking attention away... sometimes i feel like i need to throw away my phone just to get a little work done. But I am also a firm believer in that health and happiness are the most important keys to life and I think both lead to one another. One of the biggest challenges of being in college is health, because it is such a different life compared to what you were living back at home. You go from home cooked meals, sports (if you played in high school and aren't planning on playing in college) to fast food meals and not as much time to exercise. It took me a little bit but i finally made the commitment to set a time to workout and cook and live a healthy lifestyle.
ReplyDeleteI really like the image that you chose. As somebody who loves to read, it is something that I can really relate too. It also reminds me of another similar quote. Money cannot buy happiness, but it can buy ice cream, and I am not ready to live in a world where there is a difference. It's important to find the thing that makes you happy.
ReplyDeleteHey Ali! I want to work on health and happiness as well. I feel like that's such an important part of life that people (especially busy college students) often forget about! I also struggle with attention, especially with the distraction of technology and smartphones. It makes it difficult to be able to get your full attention to anything! I'm trying to be better about turning off my phone and computer and allowing myself to be present in the moment!
ReplyDeleteHi, Ali! I totally agree with you that happiness is one of the most important things in life. Happiness comes from within yourself, so a lot of people need to realize that achieving happiness comes from within them! I also agree that classical music is really helpful to help you study---it really has worked wonders for me in the past!
